Ch-ch-ch-CHANGES!

Hey Folks!

madison_knit_in_booth12015 is SUCH an exciting and busy Summer, if it seems that at times The ModeKnit Yarn Team of Annie & Kathleen (& Becca part time!) has been incommunicado, it’s because we’re crazy busy.  And busy is GOOD!

As we grow our company and develop some wholesale accounts, do more fiber shows and just generally get a better handle on WHAT we’re actually doing, we’ll be making changes and improvements (hopefully the changes WILL be improvements!) on our product and on our website!

So stay tuned, we’ll be updating you here on the blog, and also in our newsletter (sign up here!)

Mini Skein Changes

A Few Of Our Current Mini Skein Sets
A Few Of Our Current Mini Skein Sets

We’re changing the put-up of our mini skein sets, and the number of colors included in each set.  The Mini Skein Sets are a labor of love and we really enjoy making them, but the truth is, they are pretty labor intensive.

In order to create a better and more consistent product, we’ll be changing the number of colors in each “No Spoilers” set to SIX, and the skein sizes will be 25g (6 skeins x 25g = 150g set) and 50g (6 skeins x 50g = 300g set)

AND WE WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP!

CONTEST!

Pick Your Favorite No Spoilers Colors Contest!

One set of each colorway will be awarded to at random to a registered survey taker. Pick your favorite six colors from each set!

The contest closes on Saturday, July 18th at 11:59 pm. We’ll announce the winners via email and this blog on Monday July 20th.

CHANGE NUMBER TWO

We’ve added a new yarn, ModeLuxe DK, and boy is it DELICIOUS! ModeLuxe DK is a 4-ply 50% Silk / 50% Superwash Merino DK weight blend. If you’ve been to our last few shows, you’ve had the opportunity to see and feel this amazing yarn.

Wednesday Wonders Round-up: The Socks!

Joining Crochted Hex’s Worked With ModeSock

One of the most satisfying things about making hand-dyed yarn is seeing the garments our customers create!

The marriage of yarn and project is  fascinating, we love to see how a pretty skein of yarn is utilized in the hands of a skilled knitter or crocheter.

Toes see 40% in MKY!

Right now on Ravelry there are 19 completed projects in ModeSock, 17 projects here and 2 more here.

The projects run the gamut; socks (of course), hats, cowls, sweaters, scarves,  and shawls. We’ve been featuring customer projects as Wednesday Wonders on our Facebook page.

(BTW: Have you “liked” our Facebook page?  Have you “liked” Annie’s Facebook page as well?)

Our dear friend Twinsetellen designed a beautiful pattern specifically for ModeSock.

Diana’s Quiver creates a lovely fabric, perfect for showing off variegated yarns (like our own Semi-Precious colors!)  It’s a delightful pattern and a fun knit!

Thankful For The Return Of 221b!

SHERLOCK IS BACK!

More about that later…

THANK YOU!

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped us to find our footing as a fledgeling yarn company! Our customers, our vendors, those who helped with advice, booth tricks, microwaves (thanks Karen!) and color suggestions – thank you to ALL of you!

Thankful for so much, especially YARN!
Thankful for so much, especially YARN! (apologies to Norman Rockwell…)

Most especially, thank you to our families, who have been SO patient as we devote many, many hours to our start up! Beginning a new venture is never easy, but our friends and families have made it as positive as possible!

Wholesale Accounts!

2015 is the year we’ve always planned to go wholesale, in a small way, and so far we’re on track!

We’ve been updating some of our colors to make them ‘punchier’, adding new vibrant colors, and weeding out some duplicate colorways.

Non-Flow Color Card

We’re also making up color cards to send out to prospective wholesale accounts. If you own a yarn shop and would like one of our information packets, please contact Kathleen and she’ll add you to the list!

Over the past few weeks I’ve dyed up a skein of EVERY one of our colors (sometimes several times to ‘lock in’ the dyeing method for a specific color) and now we’re taking those 80+ skeins and using them to make up color cards. Huge thanks to daughter Andy for her hard work over the Thanksgiving break!

Sherlock Colors (221b) are BACK!

As we change up our colors, one decision we’ve made is to keep ALL of the NO SPOILERS! colors around, adding them to our full palette of hues.

So 221B colors are BACK! We’ve updated Mary’s Maids (more vibrant) and Old Fashioned Villain (more RED!) and hope you like the changes!

The 221b colorways are available in all our delicious yarns, as well as 30g or 15 g mini skein sets.
